Ever since its establishment in 1976, the Kajima Foundation has provided grants and support for diverse research in the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences, and cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields along with academic research grants, overseas dispatch and invitation of researchers, international academic exchange support, and grants for other academic research assistance to promote the academic development of science and culture in Japan.
The Foundation provides grants to researchers and research groups conducting research in the fields of study specified in our annual application guidelines. In particular, interdisciplinary research is preferred.
The Foundation provides grants for cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research proposed by groups of researchers from wide-ranging fields based on various perspectives and problem awareness on specific themes specified by the Foundation.
The Foundation provides the following exchange support to researchers engaged in research fields specified in our annual application guidelines.
This program provides financial support for overseas travel and living expenses to senior researchers (at the professor level) with outstanding research achievements who give lectures, participate in discussions, or undertake study tours overseas for the primary purpose of advancing international exchange. The program is no longer than three months.
This program provides financial support for overseas travel and living expenses to mid-career researchers (at the associate professor, lecturer, or assistant professor level) with excellent research achievements who conduct individual or joint research activities overseas and contribute to developing their field of study. The period of this program is limited to one year, in principle.
This program provides financial support for travel expenses to Japan and living expenses to senior researchers (at the professor level) with outstanding research achievements who give lectures, participate in discussions, or undertake study tours in Japan and contribute to international exchange in research. The host period is limited to three months.
This program provides financial support for travel expenses to Japan and living expenses to talented mid-career researchers (at the associate professor level) and young researchers (assistant professors and graduate students) who conduct individual or joint research activities in Japan and contribute to developing their fields of study. The host period is limited to one year, in principle.
This program provides financial support for living expenses, meeting reports expenses, and other expenses, in principle for foreign researchers participating in small and medium-sized international research meetings (including symposiums, seminars, etc.) in all fields of study that are held in Japan.
This program provides financial support for research expenses, etc. for creative, pioneering, joint research by research groups at Japanese and overseas universities and other research forums. The eligible fields are the same as those listed under “A. General Research Grants” above.
